Project Overview
A local publication came to Vavavape asking if they would like to advertise in their monthly publication, which they agreed to. Their were two ads, both were offset printed and distributed around the area as well as displayed digitally on the company's website. I was given the exact dimensions for the two formats and I used Photoshop to combine the photo, text and graphics in a print ready file and sent it to their art team.
The Creation Process
I wasn't given any direction on how to take this ad, though I've done enough work for the company at this point to know what they would want. The one stipulation was that the ad focused on the company's juices specifically. This led me to imagine an ad with a prominent image of one of their juice bottles front and center; in what you could call a hero shot. This would require a trip to the studio, which I tend to always enjoy. You can read more on the photo shoot here.
The only 'tricky' part to creating these ads was the blending of the images with a background. Though not really that tricky. On the vertical version, I extended the background on both sides of the bottle to extend beyond the bleed edge. I did a the same thing to the image on the horizontal version, but only to the left side of the bottle. The horizontal version also required a small amount of blending. So I masked the hard, left edge so that it fades into the black background smoothly.
The Result
There wasn't much of a metric to determine if this was successful or not. In theory we could have checked to see how many coupons we collected, but unfortunately that was out of my control and didn't work out as planned. Overall, however, I was very pleased with the final ads, as was the owner, and we got the brand in front of people.
